Wedding Makeup—Dos and Don’ts

A wedding is an affair that calls for celebration, getting together of people and pictures that are going to be a lifetime memories. The blushing bride, centre of the attention of the occasion, wishes to look best on her wedding day.  Makeup is an integral part of the weddings.

Here below are some of the dos and don’ts of wedding makeup:

Dos:

  • Appoint a makeup artist: say you are good on applying makeup and you look absolutely stunning. But wedding makeup should not look like your everyday makeup. Get a professional help. No need to add further wedding jittery and leave the worries about makeup to professional. Discuss the look you have in mind with couple of artists and appoint the one that is capable to deliver your wish.
  • Take a nap: Indian weddings are stressing because they go on for days. It can be very tiring and exhausting. So if you could get a shut eye for sometimes, you choose to have that. This will help you look and feel fresh. Dark circles can be covered by concealer however puffy eyes can be more difficult to camouflage.
  • Use neutrals to highlight your eyes. The whole bridal outlook is full of bling from jewelry to outfits. Use matte eye-shadows since they don’t reflect light as a result your eyes won’t look shiny in pictures. Use a highlighter under the brow bone as this really makes your eyes stand out. Use a good quality mascara and eyeliner so that it can last longer.
  • Always use waterproof and sweat proof makeup because you will be sitting for long hours on this special day—wedding.
  • Apply moisturizers before applying makeup.
  • Go for a warm complimenting cheek shade in peach or rose.

Don’ts

  • Go overboard with eye makeup: though it may sound and feel tempted to load your eyes with makeup steer clear of heavily done up eyes. It doesn’t look natural and spoils the look of your eyes.
  • Apply a concealer that matches your skin tone. It must not be dark and certainly not lighter.
  • Get carried away by trends: some trends are classic and some are purely fads. When you are looking back at your wedding album you might feel embarrassed looking at your own pictures. So stay away from trends and opt for classic style or something in-between.
  • You absolutely must not tweeze your eyebrows on your wedding day. You might end up with red patches and surely that is not how you want to look in your pictures. Avoid going for facial before or on the day of the wedding. It is better to get it done a week prior to the wedding day.
  • Avoid the use of false eye lashes.
  • Never apply a lipstick which is frosted. It will make your lip look pale and boring. Never smudge your lipstick. Never match your blush with the lipstick.
